Yesterday I finally got the key to my room in Breda! I love it, it’s got it’s own little kitchen and shower.. yesterday evening and tonight I start(ed) decorating, but I guess I won’t be sleeping there until monday. I’m pretty sure we won’t be able to finish the job tonight so in the weekend we will have to drive up and down to Breda a couple of times again. I can’t wait to make this place my home! Right now I’m assembling the bed.. I’ll continue posting pictures!
EDIT: The bed was succesfully put together.. tonight will be my first night in Breda!
Sometimes, an album just grabs you and doesn’t let go. It sticks in your head day after day, without losing it’s appeal. xx, the debut album of the London-based quartet The xx, is one of those albums. The music fits the intimate, timid vocals of the singers Romy (f) and Oliver (m) perfectly, whose voices you will either love or hate. The use of a sampler/drum-machine instead of a drummer is remarkable and adds another dimension which would have been lost if they used a drum kit. The bass and guitar parts can be described as no-nonsense, less is more (although some reverb is added) which results in an overall distinct and dreamy sound.
The full album can be streamed here, although only until a certain date. So be quick! Also, check their Last.fm page for tour dates.. they will be in the Netherlands this October!
As the title says, I thought it was time for a new website/blog kind of thing. Here I (/you) will keep track of things I think are worth keeping track of or worth sharing. Also, at the top there are some links provided to other websites or social networks I can be found at. Ofcourse, credits to the ones who deserve it: this is powered by Tumblr (with a little help and customization where I thought necessary).
